Renewals - 5th March

It was very quiet on Tuesday 5th March, possibly due to some football match being played up north. Not that we could miss it, with the big screen on in the bar area! So my beloved, but currently woeful, Arsenal are the last British team in the Champions League this year. Who would have thought it??!...

Roger,
The lake and river were fishable yesterday (3rd Jan), although the river bank is very wet.

BTW if you are on Facebook, you might want to like the ABAC facebook page. More news will be posted on Facebook in future.

Cheers,
Stuart

Ben,
The barbel are throughout, but the pegs in the high teens through to the high 20s are noted barbel holding pegs.

Keep us updated on progress, and remember to join the ABAC facebook page and post a photo of your double!

Cheers,
Stuart

Anyone else been fishing Alve 2?

The best I have had this year is an 8-15 Mirror, which put up a good scrap.

Roy, Sorry to hear that you didnt catch at Alve 1. This hot then cool/wet weather has played havoc with the fish on most venues, with them spawning one week, then feeding, then switching off. You didnt say how you fished Alve 1, but to target the carp either fish down the margins to one side of you ...

I couldnt get there on Monday to help (was working to nearly 11pm), but had a walk around yesterday. The small lake looks good to fish, with nice open swims now. Thank you to those who did the work! It has certainly not put the carp off, as I saw a few (mainly small commons but 1 larger mirror) bask...

Interesting article on lack of water in our rivers

It might be raining outside, but we're short of water in our rivers and aquifers and much of the country are officially considered to be in drought. Rod Sturdy has posted an interesting article on the Fishing Magic website about this lack of water. http://www.fishingmagic.com/features/opinion/15932-...

The Barbel are still feeding!

Had a short session last Friday evening, fishing the river just as the light faded and had a cracking 12lb 5oz Barbel. :D It went off like a steam train and gave the new XT4000 baitrunner a good workout!!

And for those who are wondering, I didnt catch it on pellet!

Martyn,

Alve 2 is a hard pool. Although they can be caught if you keep at it and focus on smaller baits.
