Abbotts Lake none fishing area
Just noticed the new non fishing signs by the car park track bank. Was this previously a non fishing area as it does look fishy although I have never fished it but have seen people have a short go in there. Any reason for this ? .

The rules state that you can only fish designated pegs. As the platforms were taken out there was some confusion what is an actual peg and some people were fishing on the bank in question.
I am one of those people. I, and the bailiff, believed the peg I was fishing was where the first platform was. This peg was also pegged in last years match.
Another member turned up and for whatever reason was very upset that I was blocking (even though I hadn't even set up yet) where he had been baiting. He made Chris Burton aware and it was discussed at the next committee meeting.
Basically where the signs have been put there wasn't any platforms so they aren't "official" pegs. When it was suggested to make them pegs I believe the reason not to is it is too narrow, even though there are other venues which are narrow and have pegs opposite each other and it is never too busy.
I don't understand why they can't be made into pegs, even other committee members have said it is a waste not using those pegs. Too me a peg is anywhere the fish are. I don't understand the rule of only fishing designated pegs, especially here at abbots where 90% of people fishing are carp anglers.

I don't think they were concerned about getting past, as you say there is plenty of room. For some reason they think us carp anglers are ignorant. They think that if we were fishing these pegs to the opposite bank and someone wanted to fish the other side, we would stop them from doing so. Even though on other club venues you could fish each side with a 6m pole and sword fight.

Azz,
Last year I did 21nights on there and yes they were mainly midweek, but I often went down of a weekend for a look as I live local and I didn't see that many others fish the lake. As we all know it ain't easy . Funny thing I spoke to a nice chap last week who also has had a run in on this subject hence my observation. Is it a specialist lake or is it Fishomania? Perhaps we should ask (ELVIS).

I think I know the chap you are on about, met him last week. I think he met the same guy who I upset.
It's not like it is hard to get a peg, if someone is fishing where I wanted to fish I go fish somewhere else.
I'm sure the money spent on the signs would of been better spent on fixing the platforms that remain so no one risks hurting themselves or having a swim.
